MAUI, Hawaii- Solid Brand Apparel partnered with Christian non-profit basketball camp Basketball Maui this past June to bring together youth, basketball, God and Jesus Christ. This year, there was a record 364 campers and 50% of them received scholarships.

Despite Maui being known as an expensive travel destination, a large majority of the Hawaiian locals are less fortunate. "Many of the kids and families are poor and over 125 children were in need of a scholarship for this summer," said Camp President & Founder Pastor Ben Prangnell. "Last year alone we awarded scholarships to 100 kids of whom 25 kids were from the homeless shelter and this year we are offering 90 kids who have parents in prison scholarships as well through camp agape."

By using proceeds from our apparel sales, SBA was able to provide all campers with free snack bags that included healthy snacks, inspirational quotes, and pencils.

More than just about basketball, this week-long camp encourages children to live SOLID lives both on and off the court. The camp brings children from across the island together to learn about Jesus Christ and God and the bigger impact basketball can serve in our lives today.

SBA felt the need to get involved after co-founder Leslie Strauss participated last year with her NBA client Jeremy Tyler who was playing with the NY Knicks at the time. The camp is not only a fun way to play and learn about the game of basketball, but also includes time given specifically to leadership skills, bible study, devotions, and group discussions.

Limitles Sports & Entertainment, LLC brought on other professional basketball players to this year's camp including Malcolm Thomas (current Cleveland Cavalier, formerly with the Chicago Bulls/Golden State Warriors/San Antonio Spurs/Utah Jazz) and C.J. Watson (currently with the Indiana Pacers formerly with the Golden State Warriors/Chicago Bulls/Brooklyn Nets) along with his brother, Kashif Watson (international pro teams).

With the help of camp instructor Chauncee Hollingsworth (founder of Hoops and Christ), SBA awarded each of the three age division's Most Valuable Players (MVPs) with Solid Brand Apparel snap backs (pictured to the left).

Five additional "overall SOLID players" were awarded with signature white and gold SBA T-Shirts (above).

Not only was the camp fun and inspiring, but Camp President & Founder Pastor Ben Prangnell also added that "116 invited Christ into their life. What a miracle week. Thank you so much for all the support and help. It means so much to me and the kids."

SBA is proud to have been a part of such a great camp and most importantly, we want to thank all of those SBA customers who have been supporting us throughout this journey to create a movement (not just a clothing line) to encourage giving back to our communities. It is because of events like these that we at SBA are here and exist for. We look forward to getting involved with Basketball Maui again in the future!

I'd like to thank everyone who supported solid since day one, including my team! We're still in the beginning of our journey in fashion for a cause but continue to follow us as we learn our way by trial & error! We would love to hear your feedback about our brand/product so we can better serve our supporters, you make our vision possible! We are flawed but what matters is that we still remain solid no matter what. Do good & be better.

Support the movement.
